InBody Scan

An InBody scan is a quick, non invasive bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) test that provides a detailed breakdown of body composition, including muscle mass, body fat percentage, water distribution, and visceral fat. Unlike traditional scales, it uses safe, low-level electrical currents to accurately measure fat, muscle, and water, offering insights to
guide fitness, diet, and health improvements. Providing segmental body analysis to identify imbalances and areas for improvement.

Preperation

  • Timing: Test in the morning, preferably at the same time as previous scans.
  • Hydration & Food: Do not eat or drink for 3–4 hours before the test. Maintain normal hydration levels the day before.
  • Physical Activity: Avoid exercise for at least 6–12 hours prior to prevent changes in muscle water content.
  • Hygiene & Clothing: Remove all jewelry, watches, and heavy clothing. Wear light clothes and remove socks and shoes.
  • Body Conditions: Use the restroom immediately before the test. Stand upright for at least 5 minutes before stepping on the machine.
  • Restrictions: Do not take the test if you are pregnant, menstruating, or have a pacemaker.
  • Consistency: Use the same machine and adhere to the same conditions for follow-up tests to ensure accurate progress tracking.

Prohibitions

  • Pacemakers or Electrical Implants: Individuals with pacemakers, defibrillators, or other life-sustaining medical implants should NOT use the InBody scan, as the electrical currents may disrupt device functionality.
  • Pregnancy: It is generally recommended that pregnant women avoid the test due to potential inaccuracies from fluid changes.
  • Alcohol/Caffeine: Avoid alcohol for 24 hours and caffeine on the day of the test, as they cause dehydration in muscles.
  • Showers/Saunas: Do not take a shower, bath, or sauna immediately before the test.
  • Lotions/Ointments: Avoid applying lotion or ointment to your hands and feet, as it can affect the conductivity of the electrodes.
  • Menstruation: While not a strict health risk, it is recommended to avoid testing during menstruation due to water retention and fluctuations.
  • Wearing Metal/Jewelry: Remove all jewelry, watches, and heavy clothing.
